NY Zaadz event tonight

Posted on Aug 31st, 2006 by jacqui : Seeker of True Heart jacqui
Tonight was GREAT!!!!!

We had 11 people show up for the Zaadz's dinner at Zen Palate. Unfortunately, I (a photographer) forgot my camera :-( and wasn't able to capture the group of us together. (It will have to live on in our memories!)

It was fabulous meeting all these Zaadz New Yorkers. I met some amazing people and had great conversations with you all.

I can't wait to meet you all again.

Take care!
Until next time…

Why Practice Tantra Yoga?

Laurie is featured in New York Yoga Magazine about her Tantra Yoga classes.
Here is a little excerpt.

Tantra combines body, mind and

spirit causing your whole being to

expand through awareness of your

senses, feelings and energy. In Tantra

there is no duality. Usually you think of

good vs. bad, male vs. female, dark vs.

light. You have been taught to perceive

duality all about you, but in Tantra you

come to know that all these opposites

are contained in the same universal consciousness and that means

everything you experience, do, and feel even pleasure and pain are

designed to bring you closer to your own divinity.

Tantra invokes the question: How much can you expand in

order to embrace it all? This expansion happens as you eliminate

toxins and open yourself to more and more pleasure.

That's where the sex part comes in that all the buzz is about.

Tantra uses the body as the learning vehicle employing sexual

energy to fuel the transformation.

Here's the rub. It is not necessarily about having sex. It

involves many breathing practices that include squeezing the

anal sphincter muscles, contracting the PC (sex) muscles,

mantra (making sound) and yantra (looking at geometric

images). In addition, modern Western Tantra practices include

emotional clearing, Latihan (inner guidance practice), dance and

celebratory rituals; Yet it is not just a big party. It involves being

with a teacher or teachers, lots of study, and group process work.

There is method behind it designed to bring you to expanded

awareness...

The 5 Impurities

Posted on Sep 23rd, 2006 by jacqui : Seeker of True Heart jacqui
TienGarden is a restaurant in the lower East side that cares on their client's physical and spiritual health.  Their restaurant does not use onions and garlic is accordance with Buddhist and Taoist 5-element theory of helping their clients abstain from the 5 Impurities along with being vegetarian.

There are five vegetables that are considered impurities.  They are in the onion family, garlic family, leeks, shallots, and tobacco.  Tobacco damages the Qi of the metal in the lungs.  Leeks damages the Qi of the wood in the liver.  Onion damages the Qi of the water in the kidneys.  Garlic damages the Qi of the fire in the heart.  And shallots damages the Qi of earth in the spleen.

If these five Qi's are damaged or not balanced, some of them will dominate and they begin to suppress others and thereby causing physical uneasiness and illness.

Try going without onions and garlic for awhile.  Give it a couple weeks and see how you feel.  It's at least worth a try.

Hug a Vegetarian!

Posted on Sep 28th, 2006 by jacqui : Seeker of True Heart jacqui
My little sister, Dania, reminded me today that tomorrow is hug a vegetarian day.

No matter what your diet may be, you have to admit that vegetarians are pretty darn huggable, and with more than 20 million vegetarians in the world, chances are pretty good that everyone knows a few. On September 29, we're going to set up the largest worldwide group hug of vegetarians ever-and we need your help to make it happen!

Whether you've been vegetarian since birth or you still eat meat, mark your calendar for Friday, September 29, to hug your vegetarian boyfriend, girlfriend, roommate, brother, or sister, then sign up to tell us who you're going to embrace on "Hug a Vegetarian" Day. We're going for a world record here, people, so be sure to hug every last vegetarian you can find!

And if you are one of those folks who still eats meat, you should take the Veg Pledge. And in case you haven't heard, vegetarians make better huggers.
